Encore Program FAQs
What is the goal of the Encore Program?
How does Encore work?
Active volunteers in large metropolitan areas of the U.S. have established Encore Teams to meet each other and coordinate local promotional programs. "Virtual Encore" is an online community for all former volunteers worldwide who want to share their skills, enthusiasm and ideas on improving and expanding our service programs.

What is an Encore Team?
Some volunteers meet on a regular basis and develop strategies for sharing their service program experiences with the public in their communities. They also fulfill invitations to attend and speak at local events on behalf of Global Volunteers.

Through a worldwide network of volunteers, Encore advances Global Volunteers' mission of waging peace and promoting justice by:

1) mobilizing returned volunteers at the local level;

2) helping to schedule local and national activities;

3) building new relationships with other organizations;

4) recruiting new service program participants;

5) fundraising for special host community projects.

What kind of activities do the Encore Teams do locally?
Encore Volunteers do many kinds of outreach activities including: presentations at schools, churches, and homes, career fairs, tradeshows, house parties, media stories, radio and television interviews. They even post flyers to help build brand awareness! (They have a lot of fun with ideas that adhere to our Philosophy of Service, policies and guidelines.)

Is there any use for my special skills?
There are opportunities to use your talents and special skills, especially in the areas of media, web, fundraising, child sponsorship, event planning and group partnerships.
