"When Bud and Michele opted out of a honeymoon cruise to take a more meaningful trip, they stumbled onto a rewarding way to enrich their own lives and help thousands of children around the world."

Michele Gran and Bud Philbrook

Instead of their planned cruise, Bud and Michele spent a week in a rural village in Guatemala. After the local newspaper wrote a story about their unusual honeymoon, people started contacting them asking how they could plan a similar trip.

"We knew there was a need from rural communities
around the world, and now we were learning
people wanted to do this." ~ Bud Philbrook

So in 1984, Bud and Michelle established Global Volunteers to provide people with an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children around the globe. Since then, they have sent more than 27,000 volunteers to 35 countries and eight states in the United States.

"I really do believe that every one of us can change
the world. If enough people do this, we will change
the face of the planet." ~ Bud Philbrook

Global Volunteers mobilizes volunteers on human and economic development projects worldwide; assisting people of diverse cultures and promoting cross-cultural understanding since 1984. Everyone can become a valuable resource to children and families worldwide!
