China Sponsorship
Care for Children in China: Since 2007, volunteer teams have provided important assistance to the 40 staff and teachers who care for 70 mentally challenged youth at La La Shou Special Education Center in Xi'an. Generous volunteers have helped as teaching and physical therapy assistants, art and music teachers and Special Education consultants to help establish the center as a model serving special needs children through person-to-person service in Shaanxi Province. La La Shou means “hand in hand” in Chinese, just as what our volunteers and the teachers do to serve these deserving students.
Our classroom sponsorship program provides additional resources for the students' expanding needs. Specifically, your contribution can supply teaching supplies for the art/musical class, educational games and toys, student lunches, purified water, and supplies for birthday celebrations.
Here's How it Works: Each year, for the cost of just one small take-out pizza per week or a monthly dinner for two, you can provide the direct support needed to help children of La La Shou Special Education Center to thrive. You can care for a group of children each year while they expand their capabilities. Would you enjoy supporting a classroom this way? When you complete your sponsorship application, we'll send you background information about the children of the Learning Center, and update you on news and events of the service program. And, by continuing your sponsorship each year, you can witness the students' growth and development, and the changes in the host community.
