Marjorie Priester

Make a contribution to Marjorie's legacy.

Marjorie was a beloved volunteer who worked on service programs in Romania, Poland and Greece. Perhaps dearest to her heart were the children of Tutova, Romania. During one of her programs, Marjorie said she liked the feeling she got when she was able to do good things for others.

"My team brought a (huge) supply of disposable diapers along for use during the winter, when it is harder to dry the cloth diapers," she said. "We are the 'Pampers team,' the staff and doctor really appreciate them."

While Marjorie developed an affection for the children, her fellow team members and team leader were touched by her kindness.

"I first met Marjorie when she joined a Global Volunteers program in Romania, and she became one of my dearest friends," said team leader Pam Cromer. "She was generous of heart and spirit and money. She adored the children, never putting their pictures away. I sent her volumes of photos because we participated on two teams together. She kept the photos out in her den so she could show them to people and look at them herself. She never forgot those children, and in the last week before she died, she shared the albums with her adult children. Simply put, Marjorie was a woman of grace."

Marjorie passed away in December 2004, but her compassionate spirit lives on through her legacy to the children of Romania. She will be sincerely missed by the people in the communities she served.
