Service Program Discounts*

Volunteers make all the difference in development worldwide! We work to enable you to serve our partner communities on projects that change lives. We ensure our service program fees reflect our actual costs – to engage you in genuine service and to support local people.  Service program fees are tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers when you follow our itinerary.

We offer discounts to make it easier for you to serve.  When we realize cost savings in volunteer recruitment, we pass these savings onto you. Please note that you may combine the returning volunteer and family/multi-person discounts; the student and 12-and-under discounts may not be combined with other discounts.

Alumni Volunteers: We offer alumni (returning volunteers) a $200 discount on international service programs and a $50 discount on USA service programs in recognition of continued service with Global Volunteers. Ask your volunteer coordinator for details. This may be combined with the Companion/Family Discount. Click here to learn more about our Alumni Program.

Students: Service early in life leads to life-long service. We want to promote service by students and offer a $200 discount on international programs and $50 on USA programs. Provide a photocopy of your current student I.D. card and fee statement showing you are a full time student.  This may not be combined with any other discounts.

Companions/Family Members: For each first-time volunteer companion (paying the standard fee) you bring on your international service program, you are eligible for a $200 discount (up to $800 for four companions) on your service program fee. (We allow $100-$400 for USA service programs). This discount is not available with the student discount. Additional savings are offered for groups of six or more.

Children 12 and Under: Volunteer with your family! One child (ages 6-12), traveling with one adult, pays 60% of the international program fee for all programs except India, USA and Poland summer camps. Each program has minimum age requirements. and the child must meet the minimum age requirement. One parent/guardian must accompany each child.  This discount cannot be combined with any other discounts.

*The India service program fee already includes all discounts, so alumni, student, companion, referral, presentation, and <12 discounts do not apply to India service program fees. However, referral credits can be applied toward India service program fees.

Credits and Fundraising

Volunteer Referral Credit: Earn a $100 credit toward your next service program for each individual (not already in our database) who joins a service program. There’s no limit to the number of volunteers you may refer. Submit referrals to get started!

Fundraising for your Fee: Engage friends, family members and colleagues in your service through “social fundraising.” Join hundreds of our volunteers who raise all or part of their service program fee and travel costs by starting your own fundraising initiative. You can do this!  Even if you’ve never raised funds before, your personalized webpage makes your appeal. Encourage others to contribute to an important project. This isn’t just for students!  You’ll be surprised how many people are willing to donate to your effort. Contact your Volunteer Coordinator today for assistance.

“Global Volunteers always does a good job preparing their people before they go out, so that they are well-organized and well-focused when they are out in the field. They are definitely an organization that we look up to.”

David MinichDirector of Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village work camp program

“Global Volunteers was one of about a dozen NGOs I researched. We chose Global Volunteers because they supplied excellent information, and we liked the fact that all projects are in partnership with local people.
