First day on the real job and chaos reigned but we all seemed to handle the new experience well. The center is an amazing maze of rooms setup for the different ages. The kids were finishing breakfast and we all got our assignments and then the high energy activities began. I was with the three year olds, the oldest group. We all exchanged names and the teacher put the children’s names on tape on their shirts so I could learn them. We drew suns and then started a dance game for them to follow instructions (I love to dance). The morning continued with high energy, then lunch and nap time. It all runs very well. I love the kids.
We walked to a little place for lunch which was good as has all the food been and then stopped for gloves and a visit to the shop where the woman makes beautiful bread dough artifacts. We’ll return for a demo Wednesday. Afternoon got easier as things started to make sense. Some of us did ESL work with the staff which is fun.
Big item was the celebration of Ashley’s birthday both at the center and then with a great cake after dinner at the hotel. I think we’ve started a great journey and will sleep well tonight.

Message of the Day – Maggie Bjorklund:“Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
