Today turned into a somewhat uneventful day. We were going to work with 4th graders at a local high school. In the morning, we went out and found some props like different vegetables and also bought some construction paper to cut out shapes with.
Volunteer Shek, Karen and Richard make teaching preparation
At 1:30pm we were picked up and driven to Zhonong Middle School and met with 2 classes of 4th graders. While their vocabulary was impressive for 12 year olds we were not able to do much more than repetitive drills. I believe that the students did get something out of it however and they were really excited to see Americans. They come up to us as soon as we entered the middle school grounds and tried to talk to us.

The real positive take away today was the genuine enthusiasm that the children felt upon seeing us. We were also graciously greeted by the teachers and administration of the school upon arrival.
