Primary School: Literacy Center and Library

The Christmas Day Flood of 2013 in Anse La Raye devastated the downtown area and damaged other sections of the community, including at the primary school. Some of the library books and all of the paper goods and records were destroyed.  The computer lab was flooded. Volunteers helped build a new wall and floor and installed all new shelving for a new literacy center to replace the former computer lab. Teams of Global Volunteers provided new books, paper goods for the office and other school resources to get the school up and running.

Primary School: Library Literacy Center Floor

After the 2013 flood, volunteers helped remove the damaged floor tiles in the primary school’s library to prepare for restoration and re-building as a literacy center.
