As you explore our service program in Peru, we’d like to share more about program mobility so you know what to expect and can feel comfortable and confident during your experience.

Our service program in Peru takes place in a community setting that includes a school, children’s home and several dormitories. It requires regular walking and stair use.

Walking to Home Visits: Note: Home Visit Work Projects are level 3 mobility. Volunteers should be comfortable walking at least half a mile on uneven paved terrain, including sloped areas and small hills. Most restaurants are located within two blocks of the lodging.

Walking at Sagrada Familia: During the day, walking is short distances; however, the children we work with are energetic and want to play with volunteers. Most restaurants are located within two blocks of the lodging.

Community Project: Volunteers are transported by passenger van and must be able to get in and out of vehicles independently. Home visits are in areas with steep hills outside the Sagrada Familia main campus.

Lodging: Volunteers stay in a hotel; some rooms are on floors that require two flights of stairs.
