Swim Lessons for Children

Swim Lessons for Children

St. Lucia

Thanks to the generosity of 3 donors, Global Volunteers is able to provide more scholarships for swim lessons in St. Lucia this summer. Children in Anse-La-Raye often don’t have the basic swimming skills needed in this coastal community. In July volunteers will work with certified swimming instructors to teach life-saving swimming skills to Anse-La-Raye children.

It is with great excitement we share that the fundraising efforts for bunk beds, mattresses, and bedding for the children living at Papa‘s House has been successful! While volunteers operations were suspended during the pandemic, our donors knew that time didn’t stop for the children in Nepal. Funds were donated to supply the organization with all they need to give children a safe and comfortable place to sleep each night. This April, the first team back on the ground in Nepal spent some of their time building bunks beds. The children are delighted!

Over $10,000 raised for Ukrainian Refugees

Over $10,000 raised for Ukrainian Refugees

Poland

As the war endures in Ukraine, Global Volunteers and our community partners in Poland continue supporting the Ukrainian refugee families living in Seidlce County. When we asked for your help in 2022, you responded with your volunteer time and charitable dollars. That compassion continues into 2023. This spring, donors contributed $10,680 for the displaced Ukrainian families living in our partner community in Poland.

Thanks to our donors, we have abundant resources for nutritious food, housing improvements, seasonal clothing, and the psychosocial support needed for mothers and children to thrive in this upheaval. Additionally, Ukrainian children have been provided scholarships to attend camp with their Polish peers and Global Volunteers this summer!

World Water Day Fundraiser Provides Water Harvesting System in Ukwega

Tanzania

Wow, our spring fundraiser for World Water Day was a real success! The Facebook fundraiser, along with mailed-in donations, raised $1,700 to provide a rainwater harvesting system for a school in the Ukwega Ward in Tanzania. Global Volunteers will combine these funds with a grant from Xylem, Inc and we will build 3 new rainwater harvesting systems this year for Mkalanga, Makungu, and Ukwega primary schools. Volunteers will work alongside parents and community members to build these systems, delivering clean, safe drinking water that will last decades. Thank you to our 23 donors who made this possible!
