Program Mobility: Level 3 - Very Mobile
As you explore our service program in Tanzania, we’d like to share more about program mobility so you know what to expect and can feel comfortable and confident during your experience.
The base of operations in Tanzania is at Global Volunteers’ secure RCP campus. The campus includes volunteer lodging, meeting and dining space, a modern health clinic, and staff lodging. Getting to Ipalamwa is part of the adventure, with a one-hour domestic flight followed by about a two-hour Jeep ride.
Walking: While in the villages, volunteers should be comfortable walking at least half a mile on uneven, unpaved terrain. At the RCP campus, there is one flight of stairs to and from the lodging; all the surfaces are tiled.
Community Project: Volunteers are transported in high-clearance Jeeps and passenger vans and must be able to get in and out of vehicles independently. Ipalamwa is located in Tanzania’s highland region, and depending upon community project assignment, volunteers may need to walk up to a mile on uneven grassy paths.
Lodging: Lodging is at the RCP center.
NOTE: The contribution(s) listed above are the standard contribution amounts; additional discounts may be available.
