I cannot do everything, but I can do something

Message of the day

I am only one, but I am one.  I cannot do everything, but I can do something.  And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. Edward Everette Hale

It feels so good to have a shoulder to rest on!

It feels so good to have a shoulder to rest on!

As our volunteering comes to a close, I cannot help but sit and ponder the past two weeks with so many mixed emotions.   Sadness because cherished relationships and smiling faces will be tested by distance and time.  Sadness because I feel that there is more that I can and must do to help.  On the other hand, I also feel a great sense of hope.  There is hope in the continuing efforts of those who remain who care for and love these children each and every day.  There is a hope that I will return again. And there is the hope that these kids will go on to experience a limitless life as fueled by the compassion they have received by those that surround them.  I have been filled with much joy as well.  Children have a way of touching the heart by every action, every look, every word.  These days have taught me how to appreciate the little things in life because they are so precious and few.  That in itself brings me an incomparable joy.  I will hold fast to each and every memory as each one marks a milestone in my life and character.  This experience has already made me a better person.  And those smiling faces make me want to strive to be so much more.  I dare say we have learned much from each other- my team, my hosts and those I have worked with.  And I look forward to the days ahead when I might have the opportunity to serve again with my new-found family.
LeeAnn
