Malaria and Dengue Fever Prevention
Malaria and dengue fever, both preventable and potentially deadly diseases, are transmitted when children are bitten by mosquitoes. Infections can become an epidemic without adequate education on the dangers of mosquito bites in affected areas. Global Volunteers promotes skills-based health education on preventing mosquito bites, and identifying the signs and symptoms of malaria and dengue fever. Volunteers with health care backgrounds offer training and resources to help local communities manage infectious diseases.
Working through schools and community outreach programs, you teach children and families about the transmission and prevention of these diseases, and how to seek treatment when illness occurs. Work with Global Volunteers and community leaders to provide treated bed nets, explain their use and value, and promote their usage. Read more about volunteer service on community projects.
