Volunteers help prepare and fund healthy meals and dietary supplements for school-aged children.

Micronutrient Supplementation

Diets poor in micro-nutrients cause illness, blindness, premature death, impaired mental development,
and susceptibility to infectious diseases, particularly among children. Under nourished children can’t perform well in school, and have lower productivity later in life. When compared with children who eat enough fruits and vegetables daily, children who have inadequate diets are significantly disadvantaged.

In our partner communities with school/child feeding programs, you collaborate with community leaders to supply micro-nutrient supplements to meals, and teach the importance of good nutrition to under-nourished or poorly nourished children. Your work on earthbox gardens is also a direct and effective way to provide micro-nutrients in daily meals.
