Monday – And So It Begins!
Our week began with Barbara’s fine recap of yesterday’s activity. Then we were treated to a snatch of song from Patty who reprised “Getting to Know You” – a theme setter for sure.
As we boarded the bus for our first day of school, some were eager and some were apprehensive. However, the teachers of Polo Liceale Galileo Galilei put us at our ease and personally guided us into what one called “Galileo’s Labyrinth.”
There were many ways to relate to students. Larry talked about living in Hollywood. Patty and Benita talked about careers. Sue and Rob reviewed the lifestyle and music born in Mississippi cotton fields.
Introductions over lunch at Cafe Napoli revealed more of the team’s character. Angela draws on a rich background in California’s education system. Susan has an East Coast perspective, having moved from New Hampshire to Florida working as a teacher and a ‘guardian ad litem’. Others in our eclectic mix have skills in Asian art, folk dancing, and dog training!
After a visit to the Monopoli fishing port for a photo op, we walked home through Monopoli’s historic center, warmer, closer, and already looking forward to tomorrow.
