Reaching Children's Potential Tanzania

Welcoming the December RCP Newborns in Tanzania

What’s more fun than BABIES? In this series, we focus on the newest members of the Reaching Children’s Potential (RCP) Demonstration Program in Tanzania — newborns. In this post, we welcome seven babies born in December 2020. Their moms joined the program to provide them a healthy start at life, and the nutrition and care needed to grow strong and realize their potential. Global Volunteers’ RCP Program helps parents deliver essential services to eliminate child stunting in the Ukwega Ward. It’s a child-focused, parent-driven, family-centered, and community-led comprehensive effort beginning with pregnancy, and continuing through the 18th birthday, with a focus on the first 1,000 days of life.

Seven beautiful babies were born to RCP mothers in December at the Ipalamwa General Clinic. RCP moms are encouraged to give birth at Global Volunteers’ healthcare facility and are invited to stay in the guest house before and after the birth. Please join us in welcoming Isdori, Ezrom, Silvesta, Fadhia, Elkana, Amos, and Messiah!

Isdori Duma was born on December 3 to RCP mom Zajaneth Kavindi from Ipalamwa village. Isdori is a baby boy who weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, had a head circumference of 13 inches, and measured 20 inches long. Ezra has two older brothers, Adriano (age 7) and Benson (age 4). Zajaneth joined the RCP Program at its inception in July 2017. You can read more about Isdori’s mom in this interview.
