18 Service Programs and Counting is Volunteer’s Legacy of Service

Global Volunteers salutes Hank Raichle, a Global Volunteer who has served on 18 service and people to people programs since 1994 in Jamaica (2 times), Texas, Mexico (2 times), Mississippi (3 times), Spain, the Cook Islands, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida, Minnesota, Montana, Portugal and Cuba.

Hank says that over 20 years, his “privilege” has been working in many different capacities on a variety of service program.  “But mainly, my assignments have been teaching children of all ages in a variety of subjects,” Hank explained. “All these teaching experiences were received with gratitude from the student’s regular teachers and the students themselves.”

Hank lends a hand on a classroom restoration project at the Blackfeet Reservation in Browning, Montana.

“The varied projects of Global Volunteers have been especially meaningful to my retired life,” Hank asserts.  “Engaging various cultures both abroad and in the United States has provided a whole different level of people-to-people contact, differing significantly from the few meaningful people contacts as a tourist. Early in my retirement travel plans, I gave up tourist trips for Global Volunteers experiences.”

He added:  “The Global Volunteers staff must be really proud of the development of this very meaningful organization and philosophy for volunteers to engage in peace and justice in our world.”
