Make Sure You Never Miss An Email From Global Volunteers. Here’s How.

Because email services have taken very strong measures to fight spam, some emails from Global Volunteers might be mistakenly routed to your spam filter, or otherwise sent to subordinate folders (such as “promotions” or “other” in Gmail or Outlook). The result is you may never see our messages to you, and we might conclude that you’re no longer interested in Global Volunteers’ programs. Very soon, you may find that you rarely hear from us! These instructions can help you with the process to overcome this obstacle. It can seem daunting, but it’s actually simple.

Learn how to “whitelist” your important email and move it into the correct folder.

To ensure you never miss a Global Volunteers email, you must train your email program (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) to deliver messages from Global Volunteers and icontact.com (our newsletter service) to your primary inbox, and confirm that mail from Global Volunteers is not spam. This requires adding those domains to a “whitelist.” It’s always good practice to regularly check your spam filter for important messages and mark them “not spam” or “not junk”, which automatically adds the sender to the whitelist.

Train the inbox to properly route email:
  • For Outlook: Change The Level Of Protection In The Junk Email Filter.
  • For Gmail: Customize Spam Filter Settings.
  • For Yahoo: Using Filters To Sort Incoming Email.
  • For Hotmail: Errors Sending Or Receiving Email.
  • For AOL: How to Whitelist in AOL.

Addresses to whitelist:

  • globalvolunteers.org
  • app.icontact.com
  • icpbounce.com
  • icontact.com
  • staticapp.icpsc.com

Find your email provider or program below and follow these instructions:

If you use Gmail:

  1. Check your Gmail spam folder for email from globalvolunteers.org or icpbounce.com. Select any you find and click the “Not Spam” button. This action approves those addresses.
  2. Open an email from each of those addresses
  3. Click on the down-pointing-triangle-arrow next to “Reply”
  4. Click “Add globalvolunteers.org and icpbounce.com or ui.icontact.com each separately in Contacts list
