Traditional South Indian Snacks and Sweets

In India we have a tradition of sharing home made special Snacks and Sweets with our friends and neighbors for every religious celebration. Being Christians and Christmas being our biggest festival Sheeba made some Rava Laddu, Murukku, Achu Murukku and Adhirasam. We shared these with our neighbors around the Guest House.

Rava Laddu – Rava Ladoo is a delicious sweet that is made from semolina, cashewnuts and homemade ghee.

Murukku – Murukku is a South Indian snack of savory crunchy twists made from rice and urad dal flour. Murukku means twisted in the Tamil language

Achu Murukku –  Achu Murukku is a sweeter version of Murukku made using a mold.

Adhirasam – Adhirasam is a type of Indian sweet from Tamil cuisine. They are similar in shape to vadai, but are not savoury and are eaten as a dessert.
