Reaching Children's Potential Tanzania

Welcoming the June RCP Newborns in Tanzania

What’s more fun than BABIES? In this series, we focus on the newest members of the Reaching Children’s Potential (RCP) Demonstration Program in Tanzania — newborns. In this post, we welcome five babies born in June 2021. Their moms joined the program to provide them a healthy start at life, and the nutrition and care needed to grow strong and realize their potential. Global Volunteers’ RCP Program helps parents deliver essential services to eliminate child stunting in the Ukwega Ward. It’s a child-focused, parent-driven, family-centered, and community-led comprehensive effort beginning with pregnancy, and continuing through the 18th birthday, with a focus on the first 1,000 days of life.

Five beautiful babies were born to RCP mothers in June at the Ipalamwa General Clinic. RCP moms are encouraged to give birth at Global Volunteers’ healthcare facility and are invited to stay in the guest house before and after the birth. Please join us in welcoming Betina, Glory, Joshua, Johnson, and Anton to the world and the RCP Program!

Betina Kunzugale was born to RCP mom Renatha Kadinda on June 1, 2021. Renatha is an RCP mom from Mkalanga village who joined the program in March 2018. Baby girl Betina weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces, had a head circumference of 13 inches, and measured 18.5 inches long. Jestina has one older sister, Debora, who is three years old.
