First Day With Our Students – Cuba Volunteering
On our first day of teaching, our team quickly spread into different rooms that varied by English proficiency, and we all got to work! I was in the front room with Joanne and the beginners. First I must applaud Joanne for her incredible translating skills and her enthusiasm. Every student in our group was fully participating and very engaged. Several were taking notes and giving us ideas for topics to discuss. I think one of their favorites was standing up to learn “Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes”. It was very rewarding to hear them all asking when the next class would be and telling them all asking when the next class would be and telling us “See you tomorrow!” I can’t speak for every room but it sounds like the other groups were equally engaged and excited to be there. I eagerly await my next class and look forward to having the opportunity to continue to share my language with this community.
