“Those who are happiest are those who do most for others.”

First day of the volunteer work projects for Team #206:
This day was a big one. In the morning, we all got up probably thinking the same thing, “today is the day we get to find out why we are here.” Excitement, anticipation, and curiosity of the unknown was in the air around breakfast and the time we hopped into the taxi. In the taxi on the way to the hospital, we saw how the streets were starting to be filled already with people going to do work, like us.
When we arrived at the hospital, love was in the air. The children were in their cribs, charged up and ready for playtime. I didn’t hesitate to pick the little 10 month old up to feed her, and the others didn’t hesitate to start playtime. It did not take us long to find out how satisfying loving on and playing with these kids really is. Whatever we went through to get here was worth it.
We met 8 children there, a few of which I know the names, but others I do not. I’m sure the names will come along soon. Personalities, however, are a different story. It is exciting to see the personalities show through.
After we said our goodbyes, we went back to the hotel to enjoy a nice dinner and peruse the city streets a little more, in search of bananas and yogurt to bring the kids tomorrow.
Day one was a success.
